My mornings changed drastically after I adopted Django. Prior to dog-life, I had the option to sleep in, take my time getting out of bed, even eat breakfast in bed if I felt like it. But, all of that changed when I decided to share my bed, and my life, with a 60lb bundle of fur.
Most people who share their life with a dog will tell you that their pooch rules the roost. A dog will decide for you when it’s time to wake up, and if it’s anything like Django it will bark in your face until you get out for your morning walk.
This video documents Django’s morning life. The ups and the downs, from morning cuddles to searching for scraps of food on the sidewalk.
My mornings have altered, becoming less about ME and more about HIM, and despite all of the days that I wish I could roll over and cover my eyes, I wouldn’t change that for the world. By starting the day with another creature in mind instead of myself I’m better able to be of service in this world. So, if I do nothing else on any given day, at least I’m helping him to live his best life. That’s something worth celebrating.
